Sunshine on a Rainy day

Yellow is such a bright, cheerful, summery colour and I often wear it to give me a lift when I need it. I've been feeling pretty run down for the past week so this draped sleeve yellow top from Zara (£29.99) was the perfect pick me up. I wore it for my cousin's Holy communion with white jeggings from Uniqlo, flatforms from Primark and a Zara jacket (£39.99 in the sale) and accessorised with a bag that I also snapped up in the Zara sale. I'd definitely pop in store this week if you get the chance to grab a bargain or 2

Pockets of Summer

I've noticed that Summers aren't what they used to be back when I was a child in the 90s or even as a teenager in the early noughties when long, hot summers used to last weeks with only the odd grim day. Nowadays though I feel like from May to September we have what I call pockets of summer where you get a period of warm nice weather for a few days then it becomes unpredictable and temperamental again. During one of those pockets of summer around 2 weeks ago I got my shins out for work which isn't something that happens very often being someone who feels the cold but I do it whenever I can. Midi skirts are perfect for work and they allow your legs to get a bit of sunshine and breeze on them but also look sophisticated. The only downside can be 'Marilyn moments' on windy days. One of my favourite midi skirts is this lilac scuba number from Boohoo.

I wore it for work with an embellished top from H&M. The lace up sandals are from New Look and the shades were bought on holiday a couple of years ago

Cosmo's Summer Fashion Showcase

One of my favourite parts of the Cosmopolitan Summer Party last weekend was the fashion show featuring gorgeous summer looks which can be worn both on holiday and at home on a sunny day. I loved all of the looks but here are my favourites

This boho chic look was my favourite and is definitely a style I can see myself attempting to pull off! The dress and hat are from asos, the shoes are from Office and the sunglasses are Miss Selfridge

This cute playsuit from H&M is easy to throw on when the heat is on and it's both stylish and comfortable

I love the colours and pattern of this Boohoo playsuit which is perfect pool to bar attire

This cute co-ord from asos is perfect for a night out with the girls or a date. Either way you're sure to impress wearing this combo. I'd snap one up myself if I had a stomach worthy of flaunting!

The colours in this summery Oasis outfit really pop and would look fab with a tan, even if it does come out of a bottle!

This outfit from Miss Selfridge (shoes from office) is ideal for a festival and conjures up dreams of rubbing shoulders with celebs in the dessert at Coachella. One day...

This gorgeous playsuit and long kimono from Boohoo is the ideal poolside or beach outfit and it wouldn't look out of place at a pool or beach party in Marbella, Ibiza or Vegas
My favourite category had to be occasion wear as I love a glamorous frock and there were plenty to choose from

I love stripes and this Coast dress shows that stripes are not restricted to casual wear and can be well suited to formal occasions

Be pretty in pink in this River Island dress with silver embellishment on the top for added glamour

This blue Ted Baker dress is simple but stunning and such a lovely pastel colour. The pink two piece is also from Ted Baker and should make any girl feel like a princess

Cosmopolitan Summer Party 2015

I was really excited to attend Cosmo's first Summer party yesterday and despite the weather not being on our side the event actually exceeded my expectations. We arrived at around 4.30 and there was no queue to get in and at that time even the food and bar queues were pretty small. The Artillery Garden Marquee was the perfect choice of venue as there was plenty of space and there was a summery feel to the place but we we also under cover and cosy with the option to go outside whenever the sun made an appearance. There were plenty of brands to chat with and have a look at their products such as Freya, Rimmel, Surf, Choco Lait, Seekers of the sun, Lee Stafford and Gandys and every person I spoke to was very friendly.

It was difficult picking an outfit especially with the cloudy weather but I chose a lace top from New Look (£20) with Culottes from Primark (£14) sleeveless jacket from boohoo (£18) and lace up heels from Topshop (£65) which are now my favourite heels this summer

The Freya bikinis were gorgeous, great quality and the bright prints are perfect for poolside or the beach. Most of the tops are available in bra sizes from a B cup to a JJ so you can get the perfect size to provide you with that all important support but still look the bees knees in the process.

Neev from Kiss FM provided the tunes for the day and got everyone in an upbeat, summer ready mood. I wish I'd ask her for tips now as being a DJ is one of my dream jobs (*kicks self*)

We had a lot of fun at the Surf photo booth taking funny pictures with the beach props which can be seen on my Twitter and Instagram. (@ChelseyPrentice) We also received a sample of surf in our goodie bag which I can't wait to wash my bedsheets with as I love the fresh smell

We had similar pictures with props (Indiana Jones hat anyone?) taken at the Rimmel Sunshimmer stand and I can't wait to try out the tanning mousse, especially on my pasty legs.

I love these seekers of the sun temporary tattoos which are a great idea for festivals, holidays and summer parties. Mine even survived a hot bath last night

There was lots going on in the stage around so we chose to watch a Q&A with Fleur De Force which was very interesting and also gave me motivation to keep up my blog even if nothing ever comes of it as I enjoy it so much and having a creative outlet is so important. We also watched a Summer fashion showcase which was full of amazing summer outfits. So much so that I'll be writing a separate post about it so watch this space!

Culottes of Love

I didn't jump on the culottes band wagon last summer but this season I'm a convert. It could be something to do with being a stone heavier and having slightly more limited clothing options but culottes are comfortable, stylish and flattering so I'm sold! This khaki pair was around £20 from Stradivarius and they are so comfortable and soft. The only downside with cotton is it tends to crease easily and can be a bit of a pain to iron

The red boho printed top was about £18 from New look and the sandals were £10 from Primark. I'm loving the loose, comfortable boho look at the moment so I must be getting old! I'm sad that I can't currently fly as I have a few pieces that would be perfect to wear on holiday, somewhere like Ibiza

Make mine a Shloer

I've got to the age now when get togethers at friend's houses are often more fun than nights in bars and clubs and last night was no exception. It was one of my best friends' husband's birthday so we had a few drinks at their house (make mine a shloer!) I had a great time and got to play DJ for the night as they asked me to make a playlist which is one of my favourite ways to pass time. I'm feeling a bit bloated at the moment which could be down to having Nando's twice in one week and my love for fizzy drinks so i went for a long, floaty shirt from New Look to cover the bulge as best as I can. I love the boho paisley print, the soft cotton and you can't go wrong for £19.99. I wore it with my trusty jeggings from Uniqlo, Linzi loafers and favourite jacket at the moment; the Zara fringed number.

It was my latest night since i've been ill so i'm feeling rough today and also feel like i'm coming down with something but the tiredness is worth it as it was the best night I've had in ages
