QVC SS14 Press Day

I've always been a fan of QVC and I have fond childhood memories of my mum being glued to the screen and ordering her Liz Earle products, amongst other things from there. I often receive some of their great value gift sets for Christmas, usually either by Nails Inc or Leighton Denny. I was lucky enough to attend the Spring/Summer 2014 press day which was held in a West London town house reminiscent of a Made in Chelsea posh pad. There were some lovely items, from shoes to beauty products but I found myself gravitating towards the handbags! As a true fashionista knows, you can never have too many bags

This cut-out yellow shopper is like carrying a piece of sunshine on your arm and was my favourite bag of the bunch

This blue beauty was a close second

I also really like this little red number which will brighten up any outfit

This red dress will look great with a statement necklace

Add a bit of glamour to your beach look with this embellished printed kaftan

There is something slightly Egyptian about this statement necklace which is perfect to add an exotic touch to something plain

I really like nails inc as they have some fab colours and effects. I especially love the glittery ones

Tarte is a brand that I'm very keen to try so I may have to treat myself come Spring

Here is the amazing and very generous goody bag from the event. I plan to review some of the products soon. I know where my first stop will be for my Christmas shopping this year...

'Tis the season to be Toasty

Being a Christmas enthusiast (understatement) and an early adopter of the festive jumper trend, (I bought my first Christmas knit back in 2010) I'm delighted that they are all over the high street this winter. There are an array of styles to choose from including cheesy snowmen, more tame fair isle versions and even light up Christmas trees (I doubt that's machine washable) The festive knit cannot be avoided this season so why not jump on the bandwagon and get into the spirit?

I recently purchased this sparkly Christmas pud number from New Look (around £28) which I can't wait to wear! It's so cosy and even has bits of wool 'snow' sewn on it which I much prefer to the real cold, icy stuff

Clarks SS14 Press Day

We may be currently shivering in our boyfriend coats and donning fluffy scarves and beanie hats but it's never too early to start thinking about your Spring/Summer wardrobe. Last night after work I enjoyed a snippet of summer at the Clarks SS14 press day. Stepping out of the cold, dark Covent Garden street and into a bright, warm space designed to look like a pretty garden in Spring, I was temporarily taken back a few months to a time when the sun rises earlier and sets later and nature begins to come to life. I felt like Christmas had come early when I feasted my eyes on the shiny, fresh footwear that Clarks have to offer next season. Here are my favourites...

I definitely have my eye on these shiny silver block heel peep toes and they will go with almost everything in my summer wardrobe. I will be eagerly waiting for these to arrive in store come Spring

I'm a huge fan of brogues and the snakeskin gives them a feminine, yet fierce twist

Boots are great for rainy or chilly Spring days and I've always been partial to a Chelsea boot

Here are the best of the rest, along with the secret garden esque fountain..

Masculine meets Feminine

I would definitely describe myself as a girly girl but a lot of my wardrobe staples, especially those worn for work are quite masculine pieces such as shirts, well-cut trousers and blazers. I tend to add feminine touches by wearing masculine shapes in feminine colours or adding accessories such as a statement necklace. I love the boyfriend fit coats on the high street at the moment and this Topshop one (£89) with its fluffy texture and candyfloss hue is the perfect mix of girl and boy styles.

Fluffy fashion was all over the catwalk this season and anything with a bit of fluff is perfect for keeping you warm during the cold snap. (Don't you just love the UK weather?!) The jumper I'm wearing was only £10 from Primark and it's so cosy, I feel like a teddy bear in it! My skinny jeans are from New Look and they are comfortable but the fabric is a bit too thin for the nippy weather we've been having recently. The outfit is finished off with good old Converse which are a classic unisex staple

Sorry for the Tartan Rocking

This will be my last tartan post for a while, I promise. (here's hoping anyway as I'm sure you're getting bored with it) Last Sunday my tartan pinafore from boohoo (around £25) had it's second outing round my boyfriend's house for a Sunday roast. I wore it with a jumper from H&M (£20) and my favourite patent boots from Linzi (£35) accessorized with a Poppy in honour of Rememberance Sunday

I'm not quite sure why I have a light effect on my face which makes me look like one of the villains in Iron Man 3 so if anyone knows how I can get rid of this look in photos for future reference advice would be much appreciated!

Tartan Addicts not-so anonymous

Did I mention that I love tartan? I am now on a tartan ban as I currently own 3 skirts, 2 dresses, 1 pinafore, a scarf and two pairs of trousers in the print which is slightly excessive! These pictures were taken the weekend before last on a routine trip over Canary Wharf with my boyfriend. The skirt was only £16 from Forever 21 and a woman actually mistook it for a Vivienne Westwood number which made my day!

My top is from Zara (£30) and my jacket was a H&M bargain a few years ago. My bag is from TK Maxx

Birthday Brights

So, I thought that this weekend's mega migraine was a one-off. Sadly it wasn't and I was hit with one yesterday which wiped out my Saturday (again) and made me throw up my dinner (nice)
I don't know what's causing them and I can't carry on like this so I need to go back to the doctors as soon as possible. Anyway, I went out for Birthday drinks on Friday night but wasn't really in the mood as I've been so unwell over the past 3 weeks and I felt like I couldn't drink in case that triggers it or makes things worse. Even if I'm not feeling at my best I still like to dress up and make an effort so I wore my new yellow shift dress and jewel necklace from Topshop with cut-out boots from Linzi

I love these dresses; they're a flattering shape, come in a wide choice of colours and the fabric has a bit of stretch in it so they are so comfortable. At £45 they are also fairly reasonable for the quality. My necklace was around £16 and the gems are sewn onto some felt so they stay in place. It has a homemade crafty look which is currently on trend

My friend Rachel gave me a Birthday Girl sash so here I am modelling it. I like how it clashes with, yet complements the colour of my dress!

Birthday Girl

So today is my 27th Birthday! I wish we could knock about 6 years off that age but unfortunately, I'm not getting any younger... Anyway, I booked the day off work to spend with my family but I ended up also calling in sick yesterday as I've not been well at all. On Saturday afternoon I developed a migraine that lasted through until yesterday after the doctor prescribed me some tablets that actually worked. I've never been in so much pain and spent Saturday afternoon to Monday morning in bed. I've been sensitive to light, smell and sound so I couldn't even watch the X Factor (sob!) Luckily, I felt well enough today to venture out and indulge in some retail therapy. For my present my mum and her boyfriend bought me this monchrome M&S coat (£139) and This shimmery brocade top also from M&S (£35)

I'm sorry for the slightly blurry pictures, I don't know what's wrong with my camera lately. I didn't realise they were blurry until I uploaded them onto my laptop either. My tartan trousers were £12.99 from Primark and my boots are £30 from Linzi (a birthday present from my uncle) I also bought 3 jumpers as you can never have too many for work in the winter!

This little pink number was only £14.99 from H&M and it'll look cute with a shirt and pencil skirt for work

This Khaki/Olive Green sweater was only £14.90 from Uniqlo and is a classic knit

This black knit with mullet hem will go with a variety of items in my wardrobe whilst keeping me warm and toasty this winter

Tequila; it makes me happy

It's been a long time since I've drank Tequila as I'm haunted by memories of trying to hold down shots of the stuff without being sick! In a cocktail however, it's a different story. Last night I went to the Golden Bee in Shoreditch to celebrate my friend Natalie's birthday. It's a lively and fashionable bar with good music and an enticing selection of cocktails. The one I had was actually called Golden Bee and it was so refreshing. I wanted to go for a shiny, shimmery look for some reason, maybe because it was recently Halloween and this is my version of dressing up but still looking normal

My sparkly top was around £25 from River Island and my PVC panel skirt was £18 in the sale from asos. I wore flats to travel in and changed into my Jeffrey Cambell Lita style heels with I got there as they are ankle breakers! My necklace was from New Look this summer

Here is the birthday girl herself looking gorgeous and me ruining the picture by posing in the background! (Sorry Nat)
