Weekend Tartan Challenge

Last weekend I set myself a challenge to wear one tartan piece every day starting from Friday. As it's one of my favourite trends this season I didn't find it too difficult and may try it again soon with a different print or colour, such as leopard print or pink. I kicked off my tartan weekender on Friday night with a red kilt from Forever 21 which cost around £16. I wore it with a top from Zara (£29.99) and a chain necklace from Topshop. I'm kicking myself for not asking one of my friends to take a full length picture of me but when champagne is involved all logic seems to go out of the window!

Saturday was mostly spent recovering from the aforementioned champagne abuse so I needed a comfortable outfit for lazing around at my boyfriend's house. Step forward this tartan stretch cotton dress from boohoo.com (around £20)

I stayed round my boyfriends on Saturday night and shock, horror forgot my mascara! Therefore, I am mascara free in the picture below but it wasn't quite as bad as I thought and I didn't scare small children. Anyway, the skirt is from New Look and I think it cost about £17 (I really need to keep track of prices) The top is last years Primark and is a real pain to iron hence the creases! This skirt reminds me of some school uniforms, so quite a fitting look for September and for a day I can pretend that it hasn't been ten years since I left school. (Shh, don't tell anyone!)

Think Pink

Pink is the colour of the season and there's a shade to suit everyone; From bubblegum to fuchsia, you're bound to find something you love. At the weekend I went to Westfield and the high street have some great interpretations of this catwalk trend. I've snapped up some pink pieces which I thought I'd show you

It's the colour of candyfloss, the cut is quite masculine and it feels as soft as a teddy bear, what's not to love? (Apart from the hefty dry cleaning bills perhaps) I lusted after the cult M&S pink coat but sadly it's sold out everywhere and I refuse to pay twice the price on Ebay for it but this Topshop beauty is a pretty good replacement. At £89 it is quite reasonable for such a pretty coat but I plan to wear it mostly for special occasions so it doesn't get too dirty

This oversized cardigan was £14 from Primark and will be great for when it gets a bit chilly. It can be hard to wrap up and look stylish but this ticks both boxes

How cute is this fluffy jumper? (£10 from Primark) It's so soft and cosy and I'm almost looking forward to the colder weather so I can wear it! Have any of you been purchasing some pink pieces?

Camo Chameleon

Camouflage is one of my favourite trends this season and these Forever 21 jeans are so comfortable. At less than £20 they're a great way to venture into the trend. I wore them yesterday with my H&M faux leather jacket, Zara bag and a top that I bought from River Island a couple of years ago to create a mild grunge look. I also wore Illamasqua intense lipgloss in fury which is a dark berry shade, perfect for autumn/winter.

I wore this outfit to do some light shopping (I only bought two pieces from Zara!) and to have an X Factor marathon round my boyfriend's house. The weekend started off very well until last night when I wanted to go to bed and our new neighbours decided to have an overly loud get together complete with annoying and too loud music, some whooping and shouting in the garden. We were not impressed and knocked a few times but they didn't quieten down until around 3am so we're all pretty grumpy today. I'm feeling really stressed and anxious lately and lack of sleep makes it worse. So much for a relaxing weekend. They're having a house warming next weekend which I'm dreading but after that we refuse to put up with it every weekend. Here's hoping it stops

My Holiday in Outfits Part 2

Here is the second half of my holiday looks post so I can now move on to some autumn based posts! I should be going shopping tomorrow so watch this space for a haul but in the meantime I stretched summer out a little bit longer with these holiday outfits...

Excuse the overly shiny forehead but I bought this dress in River Island last summer for a friends birthday night out. I've worn it a couple of times since as I love the print, mixture of colours, the cut out back and the unusual peplum detail. It cost around £45 and my bejewelled sandals were £25 in the Zara sale this summer

We enjoyed a few too many yummy daquiris every evening in the hotel bar so I had to include a picture of these beauties!

This neon yellow skater dress is from good old new look and it cost around £20 back in July

I really miss this view from our hotel room and the recent grey, drizzly skies in the UK have increased my longing to go back. I will have to start planning my next holiday soon

This mermaid esque pastel frock is from missguided and was bought last summer. I rarely get to wear dresses like this at home as I always feel the cold even on summer evenings! Now it's time to pack these outfits away in various bags above my wardrobe until next Summer when hopefully I can get even more wear out of them. I do like a bit of outfit recycling

My Holiday In Outfits

After a manic summer with work, the gym, blogging, socialising and spending as much time as as I could with my long suffering boyfriend it was time for a much needed break and some real, quality time together. We stayed at the Grand Hotel in Crete which was stunning, luxurious and full of incredibly friendly and helpful members of staff. It was so nice to just relax by the pool every day, enjoying the sunshine and company without feeling stressed or anxious. The lie ins followed by buffet breakfast every morning were bliss and every night we'd get dressed up for dinner and cocktails. The excess did go to my waist and stomach but if you can't have a blowout on holiday when can you? (except maybe Christmas) With this in mind, I'm holding in my stomach in most of these pictures! Here are my holiday ensembles...

This outfit (other than my Ebay Jellies) is from Primark. I think the top was around £5 and the skirt was about £8

This polkadot number was around £16 from TK Maxx. I love it but it's a little short. I often seem to have this problem with dresses and find that they are way too close to my knickers for my liking!

This is a casual day time look for around the pool or shopping. My top and sandals from New Look were summer staples and the camo shorts are from Primark but about 3 years old

This asos dress is so comfortable and hangs really well. It was only £18 which is pretty bargainous. My trusty chunky jewel necklace is from New Look

This neon lace dress was £15 from Max C at TK Maxx and it's great for showing off a tan

My poor boyfriend took an outfit picture of me every night (I promise I'm not vain, it's for the blog!) so look out for part two of this post coming later this week...

Don't You Forget About Me

After months, weeks then days of counting down, my holiday is finally here! I've had a manic week with work, the gym, packing and meeting friends but tonight I fly out to Crete for 11 days of much needed down time. A break from everything includes the Internet so sadly I won't be blogging until just after I'm back on 17th September. Although you won't hear from me for a while and will have a break from my blog posts, Instagram updates and tweets please don't forget about me and I'd love for you to catch up with me and read my post holiday update when I'm back

I hope you all have a lovely week and a half and the British weather isn't too cruel. At least the cooler temperatures should mean you get to start wearing more of your new season pieces! Speaking of new season pieces, I'll leave you with a picture from my Saturday night when I wore my leopard print dress from Mango (£35) and New Look cut out boots (£25) for a mini school reunion

Blogger meet up - 31st August 2013

I had the pleasure of attending a blogger meet up yesterday, organised by the lovely Sophie. We met at Piccadilly Circus at 11am and all stood in a slightly awkward circle as if we were about to start an impromptu dance-off. It didn't stay awkward for long though and we soon bonded over our love of shopping and items that we wanted to buy as we walked around the shops. I decided to go all autumn/Winter and wear my new tartan pinafore dress from boohoo.com (around £20) with a Primark top and New Look wedges (which I regretted wearing after walking around central London all day!)

At one point we ended up in the maze which is Topshop Oxford Circus and every time I go it amazes me as it's like a whole other world in there. When I resurfaced, squinting in the sunlight I actually felt disorientated! Anyway, four of us decided to squeeze into the Photobooth and take some pictures. It doesn't give you much warning though so we were pretty unprepared in the first shot!

Here I am posing with Charlotte, Angharad and Sam who were really nice, stylish girls who I hope to see again soon. I also met some other lovely bloggers including Kimberley, Lisette, Amy, Selina, Joni, Lydia, Sophie and Tanja. I'm sorry I didn't get to chat to you all, hopefully I will next time

After shopping we went to the diner in Soho for a late lunch. As I was having dinner at 6 I had to keep my lunch small so I stuck to chicken wings and fries. The portions are pretty big though so you could go there one day for your main meal and wouldn't need to eat again for the rest of the day!

I had such a lovely day and would like to thank Sophie for organising the meet up. Hopefully there will be another one soon and who knows, maybe one day I will find the time to organise one myself!
