Is print media slowly dying?

I was saddened to hear the recent news that one of my favourite magazines, Company will no longer be printed and all the content will be going online. I'm glad that I can still access their cutting edge fashion stories and features about what being a young woman today is really like but it's just not the same. I'll miss physically holding the magazine, feeling its smooth pages skim across my fingers and the smell of the freshly printed pages wafting into my nostrils.

I know that online is and has been the future for a while but I can't help but feel disappointed about that. In a world of computers, tablets and devices and the problems aswell as advantages it brings I can't help but feel that we need something authentic to hold on to. I love reading blogs online and some articles but my heart lies in print media and there is nothing that I love more then getting cosy and reading a good magazine, poring over the pages and coveting the exciting items on those pages. When everything is online and you're presented with a screen full of information with different links that you can click on it can become overwhelming and easy to miss interesting pieces that you would have easily come across in a printed magazine. Another downside for me is the fact that I stare at screens all day in work so it's the last thing I want to be doing in my downtime. I also don't think it does my eyes any favours as they have got progressively worse over the years. I'm just glad glasses are fashionable.

Last year More magazine was laid to rest and this year it was Company so I don't have too much hope that printed media will survive in the future. It's something that is inevitable within our increasingly digitalised world. How do you feel about this? Will you miss holding a magazine and flicking through its pages or do you prefer the convenience of online content? I'd live to hear your views
