Hello Petal

Florals in Spring is nothing new but this year they are bold, bright and beautiful. I've always preferred vibrant florals over muted ditsy prints anyway so I will be wearing my blooms with pride this season. A good way to dip your toe into the trend so with this button down midi skirt from Primark (£10)
You can tone it down with a plain top or pick out one of the colours in the print and go matchy

It's Like Candy

Candy colours, Ice cream shades, fondant fancy hues; call them what you want pastels are taking over this summer. Being a girly girl I've loved pastels from a young age and my inner child rejoiced when I found out that pastels were still big news this Spring. I have a few pieces from previous seasons but I've also recently added to my collection with these items from New Look

This gorgeous blue top was around £17 from New Look and I can see myself wearing this often come Spring. It also comes in baby pink which I'm very tempted to snap up

I'm a sucker for a knit (being someone who is always cold) and I couldn't resist this baby blue shade and the bargain £20 price tag. The fabric also feels really soft against my skin. This is another New Look purchase and I'd definitely recommend popping in there as they have some lovely pieces at the moment

Loving LFW

There is always such a buzz around London Fashion week and I've always wanted to part of it but have never had the chance until now. Sadly, I left it too late to apply for any show tickets so hopefully I'll have a chance to go to one in September as I plan to apply within plenty of time. Not having a golden ticket didn't stop me from being part of it as I headed for Somerset house with my friend Charly to soak up the atmosphere. The area outside Somerset House was a riot of colour and print and there were some eye catching and amazing outfits. Follow NottingChic on Pinterest and look at their LFW14 Street Style board to see some of fashionistas who were there (plus little old me!)

The fashion elite stomped over the cobbles in metallic two-toned flats or brogues, chunky heels, court shoes in bright shades or with flashes of neon and cut-out ankle boots. Florals were a common theme along with midi skirts and bright colours, most notably pink. There were also the understatedly stylish who have a way of putting things together that just screams chic. I went down the pastels route with a jumper from New Look (£19.99) coat from Topshop (£80) and PVC skirt from asos (£19) and floral necklace from River Island. (£18) My chunky metallic cut out boots were £35 from boohoo.com

Valentine's Treats

My boyfriend and I never normally plan anything for Valentine's day but this year we decided to go out for a Chinese meal locally and enjoy a rare date night. We were one of the first couples to arrive and the restaurant was lit by candles which was pretty romantic but it proved difficult to read the menu!
The food was very tasty and we had a laugh at the fact that the same romantic song was being played over and over again. My New Look heart print shirt was perfect for the day of love and a light pink blazer from Primark also fitted in with the theme. My disco pants are also from Primark and I was bursting out of them by the end of the meal!

I arrived home to be greeted by a lovely surprise in the form of these gorgeous sandals from Clarks! I went to the Clarks SS14 press day hosted by Portas Agency and entered a competition to win a pair of shoes. I'm shocked that I won as I never win anything so I'd just like to thank Portas and Clarks for such a lovely surprise. I will be wearing these beauties all summer

Love is in the air...

...well, in my bath anyway with this heart shaped, sweet smelling bath bomb. It was love at first sight when I walked into Lush and spied this beauty. It's more expensive than most of the other bath bombs but so worth it when you step into pink, sparkly candy scented bath water. The heart is the size of my hand and is in the style of a locket. It also opens like a locket to reveal a mini heart with heart shaped confetti inside. This is such a cute pick me up that is perfect for some Valentine's day me time

The Stylist's Rail - February 2014

The Stylists Rail is an event which I've been wanting to attend for a while but I missed the last one so I was sure to make an effort to attend this time. I bought tickets for myself and my friend Charly and we arrived at the Hoxton hotel to be greeted by rails of vintage treasures, items from the wardrobes of top stylists and pieces from independent designers. As I had a hangover I had to pass on the free gin cocktails but being surrounded by clothes, accessories and fashionable people plus the tunes spun by the DJ created the perfect shopping atmosphere. My outfit of choice for the occasion was a blue floral dress from New Look, (£25) perspex flower earrings from River Island (£5) and my trusty Linzi patent ankle boots. As we've had a bitter wind blowing around London I had to throw my black faux fur coat from New Look over the dress to keep me warm.

One of the brands that caught my eye was Blazon which features a collection of vibrant silk patterned scarfs designed by Natasha Coverdale. The prints are on trend yet timeless and the graphic and geometric style and bright colours will update and perk up any outfit. (see blazonstore.com) Here are some of my favourites:

I was also drawn to a brand called Sugar + Style, especially their on trend printed dresses and statement jewellery. I plan to treat myself to a little something from the website sugarandstyle.co.uk

I was very sensible and only picked up one item which was this floral blouse from Oh My Love. It was only £5 and will look great in the summer with white jeans or tucked into a pencil skirt

True Blue

Blue is one of my favourite colours, especially baby blue plus I can't get enough of pastels so this baby blue number from missguided is right up my street. It's a steal at £25 and also comes in pink which I'm very tempted by! The shift shape is very flattering and I love the sheer details on the arms and hem. That's two Spring/Summer trends ticked off then!

I wore it to my friend's birthday drinks last night in Babble City. My necklace was £18 from River Island and I have a feeling that I'll get a lot of wear out of it this season. The best thing about this dress is that it's machine washable because let's be honest, who really has the time and money for regular dry cleaning?

I also tried out the pastel make-up look with baby blue eyeshadow from a palette from New Look layered under Natural Collection eyeshadow in Mermaid and Revlon's just bitten kissable balm stain in Cherish Devotion.

My Favourite statement lipsticks

A statement lip is my favourite make-up look and I often apply a bright lipstick if I'm going out after work to give me a lift and update my make-up. I am a sucker for a lipstick or any other type of lip colour, especially the ones that are hyped up by my fellow bloggers but today I am going to share some of my favourite high street/pharmacy brand lipsticks

Maybelline offer a good choice of bright coloured lipsticks as part of their Color Sensational range. I was after the perfect orange/tangerine lippie for a while and this one comes pretty close. (Shade: Electric Orange) I've since discovered a shade by Lime Crime which I'm eager to get my hands on soon but this is great value and is a flattering shade which should work for most skin types other than very fair.

This bright pink shade, also by Maybelline (Shade: Fuchsia Flash) Looks great clashed with neon yellow and can be worn all year round. This is one of my go to lipsticks for a night out

Every girl needs a classic red lippie in her life and I would recommend this one by Illamasqua. (Shade: Encounter) I'd say it's a true red and suits most skintones and the colour is pretty long lasting. This formula can be slightly drying though so I'd recommend wearing a lip balm underneath it

This vampy dark purple Super Lustrous lipstick by Revlon (Shade: Va Va Violet) isn't for everyone but I love how it instantly makes me look more mysterious. It's great for winter but can also be worn in summer with a white lace dress for a girly grunge look. It suits those with olive undertones or darker skin tones more than those with pale skin as it can make you look slightly washed out so I always fake tan before I wear this. The formula is very smooth though so maybe try the same lipstick in a different colour if this shade isn't for you.

It may not look like it from the picture but this neon pink Barry M number does pack some punch, especially against a tan. Again, it is quite drying so another one to apply over a good lip balm. I also find Eight Hour cream does the trick. Have you tried any of these lipsticks?

Keeping it Casual

I'm the type who loves to dress up and I often feel overdressed but some days I just want to dress down and be comfortable. A plaid shirt is a casual staple and I've had this flannel version from New Look for around 6 years and it's still going strong. As you probably know, I can be a bit of a fashion victim but two of the looks that fit in with my own style and that I think are timeless are military and rock chick. My grandad bought me the grey coat in Topshop back in 2008 and I remember it costing £70. My love for it has been recently reignited after it came back from the dry cleaners. It's a classic piece that can be thrown over any oufit and the colour will complement this season's pastel shades. I love a pair of faux leather trousers and this pair was around £17 from Forever 21 last year. My boots are classic Chelsea boots from River Island and my bag is by Mischa Barton

What are your classic looks/pieces that you often reach for?
