Shine Bright Like a Diamond

I love an excuse to be daring with fashion and Reflex 80's bar is the perfect place to be a bit experimental. I went there with a few friends on Friday night and thought it would be a great place to wear my lilac metallic skirt from Missguided (£14.99) My T-Shirt was around £8 from New Look and apart from some annoying bloke asking me if I was 'feeling lucky' I think it was a good buy

Despite suffering from a hangover I had a great night and enjoyed some rather large cocktails (see below!)
My New Look neon necklace has been my best purchase this month as I've worn it so many times already. It was £15 and will brighten up and update pretty much any item in your wardrobe

All Change Please

So, I've decided to change my layout, completely strip it back and let the words and pictures do the talking. What do you think?
I was going to completely start again but I didn't want to lose followers and found it difficult to think of a new blog name! It's still a work in progress but I'm getting there. Working full time doesn't leave me as much free time as I'd like for my blog
I also plan to do more beauty posts as I love make-up, bath goodies and lotions and potions almost as much as I love clothes
Fashion posts are few and far between during these arctic conditions which are so hard to dress for. I don't know about you but I'm sick of thermals, scarves and earmuffs. Here's hoping Spring makes an appearance soon

Wet Weekend

Don't you just love the British Weather? I can't help but think that with the amount of rain we get in the UK it's about time the high street stores came up with some stylish yet waterproof outfits. PVC anyone? Until that time comes I suppose we just have to put up with umbrellas and soggy feet. The rain didn't stop me from meeting two of my best friends for dinner and a gossip on Friday night. At the age of 26 a nice meal is often more appealing then going clubbing so I really enjoyed it

I probably wear my H&M cobalt blue jumper (above) around once a week, especially for work and I love my neon jeans from New Look which were a £10 sale bargain last year. I somehow managed to get a footprint on the back of them on Friday night so I'm praying it comes out in the wash. My necklace is also from New Look

My Weekend in Outfits

It's such a nice feeling when you have a great weekend and last weekend was definitely enjoyable. On Friday night I went to pizza express which is a fave of mine then to a bar for a few drinks with my friend. As the weather has returned to arctic conditions I thought both a shirt and blazer were necessary so out came my peach H&M blazer from last year and my new stripy shirt from boohoo.com

on Saturday night I went to my old work colleagues 40th party with my boyfriend and had the best night. I love 80s music and a bit of cheese so I was in my element! My dress was around a tenner from eBay. I'm really into the printed bodycon midi dresses at the moment even though I don't have the stomach for them

Nuts for Neon

I don't know what is it about acid brights but I find myself drawn to them like a magpie to sparkle.
This is the second neon jumper I've bought recently as I love that I can be warm and still nod to this trend

My lace print jeans are by Kelly Brook for New Look and my boots and necklace are also New Look (the joys of having one near work)

I'm also in that awkward stage of growing out my hair colour. I definitely need to get it cut aswell so need to sort that soon. In the past I've had bleach highlights, lowlights and a high lift tint so it's all a bit of a mish mash. I want to give it a break from colour for a while but I don't know if I'll get away with it. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Just popping out for a pint of milk...

As the light outside is pretty good today I thought I'd get a photo of myself in my new neon coral jumper from Missguided and my boohoo.com studded Jeffrey Campbell-alikes.

For some reason my American Apparel leggings look a bit weird near my knees which isn't exactly a good look but I'm not the type who always looks flawless. I have the day booked off work so thought I'd make the most of it but as I'm not going out I'm giving my face a break from make-up so the shades were essential! Gotta love the pale February complexion. I'm a bit late to jump on the bandwagon with this style of shoes because I thought I'd never be able to walk in them but they are much more comfortable than they look. I plan to wear them for a party next Saturday so expect them to feature in more posts.

What Trinny and Susannah Taught Me

Who remembers Trinny and Susannah? (showing my age) I wonder what happened to them. I remember receiving their book for Christmas and it becoming a bit of a style bible in my late teenage years.
It had examples of clothes that suit your particular body shape and colouring. I'm not sure what happened to that book but what stayed with me was the advice that I should only wear what suits me. So, I thought I'd share with you the pieces I love to wear and that I think suit my body shape and the items I avoid because I know they wont look good on me.

1. I am very partial to a high neckline, particularly a collar. This is partly due to the fact that I feel the cold all the time but also because I wasn't generously blessed in the bra size department. Nothing I wear can make this area look big so bring on the high necklines, tight tops/dresses and loud prints.
For the same reason I never wear anything low-cut. It just draws attention to what isn't there and gives me a bit of a chill as I'm so used to being covered up. V-necks also don't look right on me so I avoid them

2. Being on the short side (around 5ft 3) I favour skinny jeans and trousers and short skirts/dresses to make me look slightly taller. Anything baggy or wide-legged tends to swamp me so on the rare occasion I do wear something like that high wedges are needed to balance things out. High wedges aren't practical for work so I got rid of all of my wide leg trousers in favour of slim cuts. My legs are also one of my best features so I tend to wear things that show them off when I can. I think the recent trend for dungarees is also best suited to tall people so I stay away

3. My stomach seems to be the only place where I carry any fat and I'm quite often bloated so my tops always have to cover this area and when I wear tight dresses I tend to go for tights underneath to hold me in a bit. I like tunic tops with skinny jeans as long as they're not too long as they can swamp me.
For this reason crop tops are a no-no. I'd love to be able to wear them but I hate getting my belly out on the beach so definitely don't plan to expose it on the street. When your belly often looks bigger than your boobs it's best to hide it away! Of course I could exercise and tone it up but that would be too much hard work!

4. I really like the tailored look, especially for work. My uniform is a shirt, pencil skirt and fitted blazer but I like to mix it up with different colours and prints. I think I wear tailored pieces to look more grown-up and professional as I have such a baby face and could be mistaken for someone 5 years younger
When it comes to casual wear I can struggle. I do like a pair of skinny jeans but tracksuits are strictly for around the house and I don't do hoodies! I own converse but other than that I only have one pair of trainers which see the light of day on the rare occasion that I drag myself to the gym to do a class
I am tempted to jump on the Nike Blazer bandwagon but I have a feeling it will cause 18 year olds to chat me up in Westfield and people who work in the chemist to ask me for I.D when buying headache tablets. This is another reason why I won't wear dungarees and haven't since I was 13

5. This is less down to my body shape and more to do with being cold all the time but if I'm wearing a jumper or coat the sleeves have to be full length otherwise it's defeating the purpose of keeping you warm. What's the point of having a toasty chest and shoulders but chilly forearms? I know it's all about the layering trend with this look but things become bulky and I start to look like a small child whose mother has over prepared her for the cold weather

So, there are my rules of dressing which I live by pretty much all the time except for when I'm wearing a onesie. Do you have any style rules or do you tend to take more risks with fashion? I'd love to hear from you. Also. if you're not already please follow me on Instagram: ChelseyPrentice
